BUHARI CHANGES DEMOCRACY DAY TO JUNE 12

President Mohammadu Buhari has announced June 12 as the new date for Democracy Day in Nigeria.

He also conferred a Post Humorous award on the acclaimed winner of 1993 Presidential election, Chief M.K.O Abiola. The President noted that June 12 is historical in Nigeria.This was contained in a tweet."Dear Nigerians, I am delighted to announce that, after due consultations, the Federal Government has decided that henceforth, June 12 will be celebrated as Democracy Day".

We have also decided to award Post Humorously the highest honour in the land  Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) to Chief MKO Abiola. Equally, the inauguration of the new day for the celebration of Democracy in Nigeria will take place on Tuesday June 12, 2018.

Moreover, different reactions have trailed the announcement made by the President by members of the public. Some saw it as a welcome development especially the children of the deceased winner of the June 12 1993 Presidential election and some prominent leaders in Yoruba land. While others saw it as a political game to win the hearts of the Yorubas knowing fully well that APC as a party is fast loosing its popularity, also for the fact that 2019 general election is fast approaching.
