BY: AYELEKE OLADUNNI
The National Examination
Council(NECO) has shifted the scheduled time table for English Language
examination on Thursday.
The examination was shifted from
the normal time 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m.
It should be recalled that similar
occurrences have been noticed in the conduct of this years Senior School
Certificate Examination, Geography which was slated for 2 p.m was not taken
until 7 p.m running to 9:00 p.m .Students had to keep vigils to write the
examination.
Students who were interviewed
expressed their displeasure at the development saying that to achieve success
in such examination may be difficult considering the fact that the examination
was written under a tensed condition.
Principal Poly International College
One of the schools in Yewa South
Local Government of Ogun State, Poly International College, Ilaro was visited,
the Principal Mr. Wale Olaode said, such had never happened before in the
history of NECO exams, but they were able to rescue the situation by turning on
the generating set for the students’ use because it was already sunset.
The supervisor allocated to the
center attributed the problems to Logistics; he hopes that the students will be
able to compose themselves because no extra time would be given to them, coupled
with the fact that many of the students were still observing the holy Ramadan
fasting when the English question paper was brought. The exam supervisor Mr
Akintemi Tajudeen prayed for the students to come out in flying colours and
also advised NECO body to put in more effort and ensure adequate logistics
planning to avoid future re occurrences.
